What happens if something goes wrong after your operation in Turkey?

This is the question every patient asks themselves — and one many don't dare to ask out loud. It deserves a direct answer, no sugarcoating. Here is exactly what happens at Zynea when things don't go

Level 1 — Normal post-operative discomfort

Mild pain, swelling, tenderness around the operated area, some crusting or redness in the first few days: these are not complications but normal, expected post-operative sequelae. Every Zynea patient leaves with a full post-operative kit — medication, spray, suitable shampoo — and a detailed recovery guide in English. Our coordinator stays reachable by WhatsApp for the first 10 days to answer any question, reassure you, or redirect you if something seems out of the ordinary. Most messages we get in that period are of the "is it normal that..." kind — and the answer is almost always yes.

Level 2 — Mild to moderate medical complication

Superficial infection, slower-than-expected healing, localized skin reaction, intermediate aesthetic result that raises a concern: these are situations that require medical intervention but do not constitute an emergency. In those cases, Zynea arranges a teleconsultation with the surgeon within 48 hours maximum. If a physical consultation with a doctor in Belgium is needed, we share your full medical file — translated into your language — with the practitioner of your choice. If a complementary treatment is prescribed, we coordinate its implementation with the Turkish clinic. None of these services incurs extra cost for the patient. They are an integral part of the Zynea journey.

Level 3 — Serious medical complication

A documented clinically unsatisfactory result, implant osseointegration failure, hair regrowth significantly below expectations after 12 months: these are rare but real situations that call for a structured response. At Zynea, the procedure is as follows. We document the complication with time-stamped photos and a medical report. We submit it to our Belgian referring surgeon for independent evaluation. We then present the file to the partner clinic with a formal request for handling. In cases where the clinic's responsibility is established — result outside agreed standards, documented protocol error — the clinic covers revision surgery at no cost to the patient. Zynea coordinates the entire process and ensures your presence at every step of the decision.

The Zynea commitment

We don't disappear after you return to Belgium. Our commitment begins at the initial consultation and ends at the final result — 12 months after your procedure.

What Zynea can't guarantee — out of honesty

We've chosen to be transparent about our limits, because trust isn't built on impossible promises.

  • We cannot guarantee a precise aesthetic outcome in advance. Hair transplantation and dental surgery depend on individual biological factors — bone density, donor-area quality, healing speed — that vary from patient to patient. We guarantee a rigorous protocol and a qualified surgeon. The biological outcome itself cannot be guaranteed.
  • We cannot guarantee full reimbursement by your mutual insurance. Scheduled care in Turkey is not covered under the Belgium–Turkey bilateral agreement. We help you build a file for possible partial reimbursement — but we don't promise what mutual insurers don't provide for.
  • We cannot intervene in medical emergencies on-site. In case of absolute emergency during your stay, the Turkish 112 remains the first line of recourse. Zynea operates in coordination and support — not as a replacement for local emergency services.

Why we publish this article — and what it says about Zynea

Most medical tourism operators don't publish this kind of article. They prefer not to bring up complications, for fear the question might deter prospects. At Zynea, we think exactly the opposite. A patient who understands precisely what happens in the event of a problem — and who sees that the response is structured, human, and at no extra cost — is a patient who makes their decision with confidence. And a patient who decides with confidence is a patient who lives their journey better, even when things don't go exactly as planned. That's what premium medical tourism is. Not the absence of risk — it doesn't exist anywhere. But the certainty of being supported, whatever happens.
